HCS Attendance policy

The HCS attendance policy can be found in the Student Rights and Responsibilities Code of Conduct Handbook (numbered page 11).

Report a student absence

Please contact the school in the morning if your child will be absent. For your convenience, we offer several options to submit attendance updates. 

Please provide your child's name, grade, and reason for the absence. 

Appointments with medical providers

If your child is absent from school (including late arrivals and early dismissals) due to an appointment with a medical provider, please provide a note from the provider upon your child's return to school. Notes from medical providers can be scanned or photographed and emailed to the office at jacksonattendance@hampton.k12.va.us. 

Early Dismissal

If you need to pick up your child early, please stop by the office to complete a form. You will be required to show your ID. (It's also helpful to let the teacher know in advance.) Please be mindfull that Early Dismissal ends at 3:10pm.

Tardy Arrivals

If your child arrives after the start of classes at 9 a.m., he/she will need to stop in the office for a tardy slip before proceeding to class.
